WHAT WE LOOK FOR
Indicators Your Home Needs Refinish or Restoration
During an inspection, we evaluate how well the current finish system is performing and where the home may be exposed. These indicators help determine whether restoration is necessary or if targeted maintenance will be enough.
Stain Is Fading or Peeling
Water Is Absorbing Into the Logs
Uneven Color or Dark Streaking
Dry or Sun-Damaged Wood
Previous Re-stains Aren’t Lasting
Signs of Mold or Mildew

Protection starts with the finish.
A log home is only as protected as its finish. Stain isn’t just cosmetic. It controls how your home handles sun, moisture, and seasonal movement. When that system starts to break down, the wood is exposed. Water begins to soak in, UV dries the surface out, and the logs start to crack, fade, and deteriorate unevenly.
Refinishing and restorations are about resetting that system.
For homes where the finish is still holding up in places, a refinish may be enough. That typically involves correcting problem areas, cleaning, and applying new coatings to restore protection.
When the finish has fully failed, a restoration takes it a step further. We bring the home back to bare wood, correct the surface, treat it for rot, mold, and insects, and rebuild the finish system from the ground up.
While it’s a key part of log home restoration, media blasting isn’t limited to wood. We also use it on concrete and metal surfaces for coating removal, surface prep, and restoration work.
Done correctly, refinishes and restorations don’t just improve appearance. They re-establish how the home sheds water, resists UV damage, and performs long-term.
